Palliative care has always included spiritual care, but the provision and inclusion of within across palliative services internationally is sub-optimal. In this summary overview, we address understandings meanings spirituality related terms, both generally in context healthcare, outline importance well-being at end life. We summarise what involves, its benefits for patients their families, consider how might be helped or hindered. There currently a limited evidence base efficacy interventions including and/or religious large-scale studies particular are lacking. However, those mostly small-scale qualitative which have been conducted to date show that addressing needs associated with many positive outcomes relatives. More research area necessary develop enhance base, optimal requires providers explicitly recognise need such through providing training support staff.
